There is a world within a square inch. RICHARD MILLE launches the new RM 16-02 watch
In the field of high-end watchmaking, RICHARD MILLE has always led the trend with its unique design aesthetics and exquisite craftsmanship. Among them, the RM 16-02 ultra-thin automatic watch is undoubtedly another example of the brand's design aesthetics. This is the brand's first rectangular watch, which boldly interprets the brand's established aesthetic standards. Its straight lines and integral structure present a distinct brutalist style. It not only demonstrates the brand's outstanding pursuit of technological innovation, but also brings a visual and mechanical feast to the watch industry with its unique aesthetic concept.
The case of the RM 16-02 watch is rectangular, which makes it unique in the RICHARD MILLE series of watches. It continues the brand's consistent arc and narrowing design that fits the wrist, conforms to ergonomic principles, and is suitable for wearing on various occasions. Its dial design is a visual feast: its hour markers follow the lines of a lace Ariadne line, seemingly leading the way through the complex skeleton of the movement. In this complex framework, the hour markers not only mark the passage of time, but also highlight the bold and architectural design of this outstanding timepiece.
At the same time, this watch adheres to the brand's usual exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail. The three main components of the bezel, the middle case and the bottom cover have been extensively calculated and carefully processed. The coordination between the movement, the case and the dial was taken into account during the design and production of the watch. Because of this, every detail is made with very strict and fine craftsmanship. For example, the watch no longer uses a case lining, and the movement is placed on the chassis mounting rubber (in accordance with ISO SW standards) and fixed with grade 5 titanium screws. This fully demonstrates Richard Mille's unremitting pursuit of high quality.
The charm of the RM 16-02 watch lies not only in the exquisite manufacturing process, but also in its sculptural rectangular shape. Its case is made of micro-sandblasted and satin-finished titanium alloy, with finely polished edges and particularly excellent ergonomic design, which is further optimized than the previous RM 016.
The RM 16-02 also brings the brand the opportunity to launch the new Terracotta Quartz TPT® terracotta quartz fiber material. This composite material is made into a bezel and assembled with the middle case of Quartz TPT® milky white quartz fiber, presenting an unmodified original texture, fully reflecting the original design intention of the watch, without any affectation, which is also the concept respected by the brutalist architectural style.
RICHARD MILLE's latest self-developed movement CRMA9 is a drive designed specifically for the RM 16-02. The movement is exquisite, like a maze woven by titanium alloy. Engineers use the complex opening design in the structure to ensure that the movement can receive as much light as possible.
The essence of the design of this movement lies in the rigor of its lines and the high efficiency of its components. Its titanium alloy baseplate is micro-blasted and gray ionized, covering all visible parts of the watch. Only the movement bridges are distinguished by their eye-catching black PVD coating. The back of the movement is a micro-blasted and ionized grade 5 titanium alloy bridge, which not only highlights the complexity of the movement, but also cleverly hides most of the involute gear transmission and variable inertia balance wheel.
